Tzu Chi University and Academia Sinica Host the 8th International Forum for Biomedical Sciences Focusing on Environmental Medicine
To promote international academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, Tzu Chi University, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, and Academia Sinica jointly organized the 2026 8th Tzu Chi–Academia Sinica International Forum for Biomedical Sciences, held on March 6–7, 2026, at Tzu Chi University in Hualien, Taiwan. The forum was also held in conjunction with the annual Tzu Chi Medical Conference, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the Tzu Chi medical system and strengthening the integration of biomedical research and clinical practice. Over the years, the Tzu Chi–Academia Sinica International Forum for Biomedical Sciences has become an important international platform for academic exchange. The forum brings together scholars and researchers from Academia Sinica, Tzu Chi University, and the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation affiliated Hospitals, as well as partner universities from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The event provides opportunities for experts and researchers to share their latest scientific discoveries and foster global collaborations in biomedical research. The theme of this year’s forum is “Environmental Medicine,” highlighting the profound impact of environmental factors on human health. Key topics include air and soil pollution, food safety, occupational exposure, and the health consequences of global climate change. As environmental changes increasingly affect public health worldwide, the conference aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and explore innovative strategies to address emerging medical and environmental challenges. The forum features several distinguished keynote speakers from around the world, including Dr. James C. Liao, President of Academia Sinica; Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, President of Chiang Mai University, Thailand; Dr. Pau-Chung Chen, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Taiwan; and Dr. Hsin-Chou Yang, Director of the Institute of Statistical Science at Academia Sinica. These keynote lectures provide valuable insights into cutting-edge research in environmental medicine, public health, precision medicine, and biomedical data science. In addition to keynote lectures, the forum includes presentations of collaborative research projects between Tzu Chi University and Academia Sinica, as well as research presentations from faculty members and researchers from Tzu Chi University and the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation affiliated Hospitals. Graduate students also participate by delivering oral presentations and presenting research posters, creating valuable opportunities for young researchers to exchange ideas with leading international scholars. Through the organization of this international forum, Tzu Chi University continues to demonstrate its strong academic capacity in biomedical research while promoting global scientific collaboration and talent development. By bringing together experts from diverse disciplines, the conference aims to advance biomedical sciences and contribute to addressing global environmental and health challenges for the well-being of humanity.
